An accomplished neurosurgical physician assistant in neurosurgical procedures, Stefanie Sanderson joined Spine Team Texas® in 2006, focusing on improving the quality of life for back and neck pain patients. Before joining Spine Team Texas®, Sanderson spent five years as a neurosurgical physician assistant with Cedar Neurological Surgeons in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She also spent a year working as a study coordinator for a clinical trial of an artificial cervical disc to aide in symptomatic cervical disc disease. Sanderson has also contributed her knowledge of the medical field with her technical writing in Trade Secret, a medical transcription book, and as editor of Pocket Notes for the University of Iowa Physician Assistant Student Society.
In 2001, Sanderson received her masters of physician assistant studies from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Colorado State University. Additionally, as a Golden Key National Honors Society Member, she qualified for the College of Natural Science’s Dean’s List and received the Presidential Scholarship Award.
She is a member of the Association of Neurosurgical Physical Assistants, associate member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She is currently licensed as a Texas Physician Assistant, certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and certified by The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
